A B O U T

Who is Epitaph:
Epitaph is a small, user-focused, semi-hardcore raiding guild on US-Draka Alliance. Since the birth of the guild in late 2007 and our first 25 man boss kill on January 17th, 2008, we have rapidly progressed through 25-raider content while just raiding 3 nights a week, 3 hours per night:

  • Kael'thas Sunstrider - August 11, 2008
  • Anetheron - July 3rd, 2008
  • Rage Winterchill - July 1st, 2008
  • Lady Vashj - May 28th, 2008
  • Al'ar - April 10th, 2008
  • Magtheridon - March 13th, 2008
  • Leotheras the Blind - February 26th, 2008
  • High Astromancer Solarian - February 22nd, 2008
  • Fathom Lord Karathress - February 13th, 2008
  • Hydross the Unstable - January 30th, 2008
  • Morogrim Tidewalker - January 30th, 2008
  • The Lurker Below - January 22nd, 2008
  • Void Reaver - January 17th, 2008

Why Epitaph:
Epitaph is looking for serious raiders to tackle all content. Simply put, we are a dedicated core group of raiders that love progression. We are not in the game for world or server firsts; instead we find a balance between casual raiding and not having to farm end-game content for 7 months before the next expansion or content patch. We are not the run-of-the-mill raiding guild that is going nowhere only to give up during hard times. We've canceled raids, we've lost a lot of great friends and good players, and we have always pressed on. As with most casual raiding guilds, real life issues take precedence, and sabbaticals can be arranged.

What we want from you:
You don't need to be a hardcore raider to join Epitaph, but you must be serious about it, especially during progression content. Humor can be somewhat harsh, and if you are not performing to what we think your potential is, you may be given tips or asked to do things differently.

You should come to raids with gold for repairs, all the consumables you may need for the night, any off-spec sets of gear that you are required to use, and the knowledge & strategies that you'll be using in the boss fights scheduled. You should know the basic mechanics of combat and your class, but you should also be capable of basic functions in the gameplay environment (clicking cubes, using spines, etc.). After a night of wiping on content, you are able to analyze your own performance, and look through WWS to see where you could improve. You aren't a loot whore, beyond the normal drive to want new gear, and you are not afraid to spend DKP on off-spec items (assuming nobody needs it for their main spec). You are looking for a long-term commitment, not free loot until you decide to re-roll somewhere else with a new main 6 months later. You understand and speak English and have Ventrilo and a microphone that you are able to, and want to, use.

Additionally, as we have just 9 hours per week of required 25-man raids, all Epitaph members are expected to attend (or be available to attend) approximately 5 raids every two weeks, or 5/6 attendance. Players who fail to show up for multiple raids without some kind of fore-warning face consequences such as DKP penalties or guild removal. While we will make exceptions for things such as real-life emergencies, we urge all of our members to make every effort to attend all raids without putting their health or welfare at risk.

Additional information of note:
Epitaph does not have a single guild leader, nor does it have traditional officers; instead, guild leader roles are shared and split equally between the 4 tetrarchs: Biaboc, Gallus, Sherbrams, and Vaeldana. All tetrachs have equal say and equal power within the guild.

Loot distribution during standard 25-man raids is done, unless otherwise noted, by open bidding using DKP earned in raids. Epitaph rewards DKP not only for boss kills, but also for being on time, hourly during the raid, and at the end of the night.
